Industry PhD Scholarship - School of Business & Law


BMT and Edith Cowan University are seeking a candidate for a full-time Industry PhD scholarship working on a research project for Life Cycle Asset Management of Australian Navy Ships and Submarines. The project will identify methods to recognise naval asset management specialists by codifying experience, education, and training requirements for inclusion in Defence’s Sustainment Management Professionalisation and Certification Framework. The successful candidate will be based in the Centre of Innovative Practice within ECU’s School of Business & Law, in partnership with BMT, who specialise in marine engineering services and offer a range of services to the maritime and defence industries.

Candidates will need to have the following skills to undertake the project: Communication skills to engage with industry; high level research and writing skills for the production of industry reports and thesis; presentation skills to present research findings in a clear manner; fundamental understanding of Asset Management standards and best practices; and understanding of Defence acquisition and sustainment policies. Experience in two or more of the following is highly desirable: commercial asset management practices; internationally recognised asset management standards, practices and activities; naval acquisition and sustainment policies; and Australian Qualifications Framework and professionalisation activities within Australia and international societies.
